Psychiatric Services offers a range of services designed to support our students’ overall health, wellbeing, and quality of life. Our services include medication management for patients with psychiatric concerns, psychological treatment for conditions that may have both medical and stress-related components, and a tobacco cessation program for patients who want to quit using tobacco products.

If you’re interested in establishing care with our psychiatry or health psychology service, make an appointment with your health care provider to discuss a referral. After you receive a referral, we will typically call you to schedule your first appointment.

Students interested in tobacco cessation services can schedule an appointment by phone. Tobacco cessation appointments are often available on a same-day basis.
Our board certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners work with students to help them manage psychiatric medications. Common problems that we address in treatment may include:
- Bipolar disorder
- Panic disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Eating disorders
- Schizoaffective disorders
Our licensed clinical health psychologists and supervised doctoral practicum therapists provide treatment for conditions that may have both medical and stress-related components, assist with behavioral management of medical conditions, and address stress and other mental health symptoms that may commonly co-occur with physical health concerns. Common reasons for treatment may include:
- Sleep disorders
- Chronic pain
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Health anxiety
- Medical phobias
- Tic disorders
- Compulsive skin picking
- Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Weight management

- Erectile dysfunction
- Pain with intercourse
- Stress of recent medical diagnosis
- Stress of chronic medical conditions
- Behavioral management of medical conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes)
- Management of medications and/or medical recommendations
Psychiatric Services also staffs an Integrated Primary Care Behavioral Health clinic (Same Day Mental Health), which is a fully integrated service within the medical clinic. Students may be referred by their health care provider for a same-day visit with one of our Behavioral Health Consultants. This service is delivered in close coordination with the health care team, and is designed to enhance access to mental health care, improve patient health outcomes, and ensure comprehensive treatment for all students who seek care within the medical clinic.
Tobacco Cessation Program
We provide free tobacco cessation counseling to currently enrolled students who have paid their student health fee. Students who participate in ongoing tobacco cessation counseling can receive nicotine replacements (gum, patches, or lozenges) at no charge.
Weekly appointments can help you to:
- Explore your options for quitting tobacco use
- Improve your motivation to quit using tobacco products
- Learn ways to manage cravings
- Reduce the stress of quitting tobacco
- Remain tobacco-free for the future
- Reduce your tobacco use if you have had previous attempts to quit, or are not able to fully quit

Types of treatment
We provide evidence-based treatments for a wide range of conditions. Our approach to care is holistic and collaborative, and sensitive to the needs and preferences of each patient. We also work closely with your health care team to ensure that we can support your optimum health and wellbeing.
At your first visit, your provider will complete a thorough evaluation of your history and current concerns, and will make recommendations for your treatment. Your provider will also discuss the risks and benefits of each treatment option with you, so that you can make an informed choice about your care.
