Pharmacy
The CHS pharmacy is conveniently located inside the medical clinic in the Washington Building. We are a full-service pharmacy, which means we can fill, refill, or transfer prescriptions, suggest over-the-counter products, and provide education around using prescription and other drugs safely.
In addition to prescription medications, we also offer a number of over-the-counter medicines and other health products.
Filling a Prescription at CHS Pharmacy
If you are new to our pharmacy, please proceed to the pharmacy check-in area first to provide important information needed to fill your prescription (insurance, allergies, medical conditions).
If a medication you need is currently out of stock, we can order it and have it available the next business, day in most cases, or, if needed, we can try to contact your prescriber for a possible alternative.
Refill Your Prescription
You can refill your prescription either online or by phone. When requesting a refill, be sure to have your student ID, the name of the medication(s), and the prescription number handy.
We do not have automatic refills. Please request refills when you are running low on a product.
If your prescription is out of refills, please allow at least 72 hours for a response from your provider.
Online
- Log in to the Patient Portal.
- Click the Refills button.
- Select New Message and follow the instructions to submit your refill request.
By Phone
- Call 509-335-5742.
- Provide your student ID, Name, and Date of Birth.
- Give the name of the medication(s) and the prescription number if available.
- If calling after hours, leave a voicemail with your information and we will refill your prescription the following business day.
Transfer Your Prescription
We can help you transfer your prescription to Cougar Health Services from your home pharmacy or vice-versa.
To transfer a prescription to CHS
Online
- Log in to the Patient Portal.
- Click the Refills button.
- Select New Message and follow the instructions to submit your refill request
By Phone
- Call 509-335-5742.
- Give the name of the medication(s) and the prescription number, if available.
- Provide the name and phone number of the original pharmacy.
To transfer a prescription to Another Pharmacy
- Call the pharmacy location where you want your medication(s) transferred.
- Give them your name, the name of the medications(s), and the prescription number if available.
- Ask them to call us at 509-335-5742 to complete the transfer process. They can also fax a transfer request to 509-335-5745.
Text Notifications
To recieve text messages, you must contact us to set up the messaging services. You can sign up to receive text notifications when your prescriptions are ready to be picked up. You can sign up in person or over the phone at any time, whether you’re filling your prescription for the first time or transferring it from another pharmacy.
If you are signed up for text notifications, we will send you a text when your prescription is ready and you can pick it up at your convenience. We try to take care of our patients as quickly as possible, and it typically takes approximately 15-20 minutes to fill prescriptions (time can vary depending on the circumstances).
Over-the-Counter (OTC) Products
If you need non-prescription medications or other products, we offer a number of competitively priced items in our pharmacy so you can quickly get what you need to feel better.

- Eyedrops/Eardrops
- Skin Care/Acne Care
- Emergency and Other Contraceptives
- Menstraul products
- Multivitamins and supplements
- Topical and Oral pain relievers
Forms of Payment
Payment is required at point of sale/pick up. We accept most prescription drug insurance plans and the graduate/international student plans. We also accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Cougar Cash. We do not accept RDA or American Express.
Special Orders
We can special order products for you and, in most cases, have the item the following business day.
How to Dispose of Unused Medications
If you have unused medications, you can easily dispose of them at the med disposal kiosk located near the CHS pharmacy. The kiosk is free to use and available during clinic hours.
You can dispose of medications in their original container or a sealed bag. Once you place a medication in the kiosk, it is no longer accessible.
The following items are not accepted in the kiosk:
- Batteries
- Cosmetics and personal care products
- Herbal remedies, vitamins, and supplements
- Illicit drugs
- Medical devices
- Mercury-containing thermometers
- Pet pesticide products
- Sharps
Remember that you should never throw away, recycle, or flush unused medications. If you’re unsure whether you can dispose of a medication in the kiosk, ask the pharmacy staff.
