Need an appointment?

The length of your appointment depends on the type of care you need. Please schedule your appointment by phone at 509-335-3575 so we can make sure to schedule you for the right amount of time to address your concerns.

Health Care for Trans Cougs

Cougar Health Services offers gender-affirming and other care specifically for trans, gender non-conforming, and gender-questioning Cougs. However you identify, we are here to provide the care you need.

Services

All of our medical providers are trained and able to take care of your day-to-day needs. We also have providers with additional training in gender-affirming therapy who specialize in the advanced skills needed to ensure your specific health needs are met. CHS gender-affirming care services includes the beginning and maintenance of hormone therapy.

What to Expect

We know that your first appointment for trans-specific health care can be nerve-wracking, and you’ll probably have a lot of questions. We’re here to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible for you.

When you make an appointment for transgender care at CHS, you can expect the following:
  • We will use the name and pronouns you indicate in your Patient Portal and/or when you make your appointment. We’ll also add this information to your medical chart to ensure we use the correct name and pronouns for you every time you visit the clinic.
  • If applicable, you can indicate your transition status while scheduling your first appointment. This will help your team provide the best care possible.
  • At your first appointment, you will be asked a number of questions pertaining to your and your family’s health history. We know some of these questions can be triggering, and we will support you through the process of collecting your health history.
  • You and your provider will discuss the types of care you are seeking or want to know more about.
Other Things to Know
  • If you’re undergoing gender-affirming hormone treatment, please bring a list of all your current medications and doses as well as contact information for your previous provider to ensure continuity of care.
  • Medication refills for gender-affirming treatment can be ordered through our on-site pharmacy or the pharmacy of your choice. Please check with your insurance provider regarding policy requirements and specific benefits.
  • If you need care for general illnesses or injuries (flu, colds, sprains, etc.), you will likely need to see a provider in the medical clinic rather than a provider specializing in trans care. We will work with you to find a provider you feel comfortable with who can meet your specific health needs.

Confidential Care

We are committed to providing compassionate care that makes you feel supported, welcomed, seen, and safe.  We know that talking honestly with a provider about your sexual identity, gender identity, and sexual behaviors can be scary or uncomfortable. Our medical staff provides quality care in a judgement-free zone so you can feel comfortable sharing your concerns and get the support and treatment you need. Information you disclose to your provider is confidential and will not be shared with anyone.*

*In some cases, providers are required to report behaviors or actions that are harmful to you or others.
